PACKAGING & MATERIALS

The best way to keep our next-gen retinal stable was through airless, opaque plastic packaging. We're exploring alternatives, but until then, we’ve partnered with rePurpose Global to help offset its impact. For every pound of plastic used in our packaging, we help to recover 4x the amount of plastic in nature.

  • Outer Carton

Made from 100% recycled paper and widely curbside recyclable.

  • Tube

Made from plastic and recyclable through specialty drop-off programs like Pact.

  • Pump w/ Cap

Made from 50% PCR plastic and recyclable through specialty drop-off programs like Pact.

Recyclability depends on local programs, component size, and material format.

FAQ

    • ‘Retinoid’ is the umbrella term for a family of topical vitamin A derivatives used in skincare, from over-the-counter products to prescription treatments. While all retinoids work by increasing cell turnover and supporting collagen, they differ in potency, how quickly they work, and how they're converted by the skin.

For a retinoid to deliver its benefits, it must ultimately convert to retinoic acid (the active form that drives results). Prescription treatments like Tretinoin are already retinoic acid, while non-prescription retinoids must first be converted by the skin. The fewer conversion steps required, the more potent and efficient the retinoid.

‘Retinol’ is the most common non-prescription retinoid found in skincare. It requires two conversion steps before becoming retinoic acid, making it an effective option, but slower-acting.

‘Retinal’ (also called retinaldehyde), found in Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum, is the most potent retinoid available without a prescription. Because it requires just one conversion step to become retinoic acid, it can deliver results more quickly and efficiently than traditional retinol. It’s a great option for those who find Tretinoin to be too harsh, but want a formula more fast-acting and effective than other cosmetic retinol products.

    • Retinoids are considered the “gold standard” in skincare because they’re backed by a wealth of clinical data that support their ability to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and skin texture. But for many people, incorporating one into their routine can be challenging, as dryness, flaking, and discomfort (often called the “retinal uglies”) can make it difficult to stay consistent.

We created Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum to help address this challenge. Formulated with a balance of powerful actives and deeply soothing ingredients, it delivers the visible firming and smoothing benefits people want from a retinoid, but in a formula designed to minimize sensitivity and support the skin barrier at the same time. Awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance, this hydrating retinal serum is effective enough for experienced retinoid users but approachable enough for people who’ve never used one before or have been too afraid to start.

    • Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum is designed for anyone looking to address visible signs of aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture, and loss of firmness. Its gentle yet effective formula also makes it a great option for people who:

      • Are new to retinoids or have been too intimidated to try one in the past
      • Currently use a retinoid but are struggling with dryness, flaking, or discomfort (a.k.a the “retinol uglies”)

If you’re new to retinoids, we recommend applying Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum 2-3 nights a week, then gradually building up to nightly use as tolerated.

    • Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum contains 0.05% next-gen retinal: an advanced, hyper-stable retinal with a proprietary multi-phase delivery system that helps maximize efficacy while minimizing sensitivity. The formula also features a 2% algae retinoid booster, which helps boost the effects of the retinal for maximum collagen support.

    • When developing Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum, it was a non-negotiable to create a high-performance formula that delivered the proven benefits of retinal, while still being gentle on the skin. To do so, we partnered with a specialized supplier to create our own never-before-used technology.

If you're a retinoid nerd, you may have heard of encapsulation, a technology that surrounds retinal in a protective shell to help improve stability and delivery. Our next-gen retinal takes that concept one step further.

Instead of relying on a single protective layer, our retinal uses a multi-phase delivery system with various layers and components designed to further stabilize the ingredient, optimize absorption, and provide controlled release over time to help mitigate sensitivity. Think of it like a jawbreaker; it just keeps getting better with every layer.

    • Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum should be applied only at night on completely dry skin, as sun exposure can reduce retinal’s effectiveness.

    • After cleansing, apply it as your serum step, then follow with any additional serums (from thinnest to thickest) and finish with moisturizer. Because retinal can increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, always be sure to wear SPF during the day to protect your skin during use.

    • While Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum is formulated to be gentle enough for daily use, for new retinoid users, we recommend starting 2-3 times a week and gradually building up to nightly use.

    • With retinoids, or any new product you introduce into your routine, there may be an acclimation period. Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum is formulated to be gentle, but temporary breakouts may occur when starting. If these don’t resolve or if you experience an allergic reaction, please discontinue use and reach out to us at hello@dieuxskin.mom.

    • After cleansing at night, apply Deliverance 3-in-1 Repair Serum first, then allow skin to fully dry before applying Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum. Ordering in this case doesn’t really matter but, since Deliverance has a lighter texture, layering it first can help ensure both serums absorb seamlessly into the skin.

    • Yes! Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum is ophthalmologist-tested and has undergone ocular safety testing to evaluate its potential to cause irritation or adverse reactions to the eye area. This means Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum has been tested and deemed safe for use around the eyes*, including for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers. As always, everyone’s skin is different, so we recommend patch testing and discontinuing use if any irritation occurs.

*While Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum is safe to use around the eyes, we do not recommend using this serum with the Forever Eye Mask. As the Forever Eye Mask acts as an occlusive, using the masks with sensitizing actives like retinal may cause irritation.

    • Mixing retinoids can be tricky, and we always recommend consulting with your dermatologist before doing so. While using Firm Revival along with a prescription-strength retinoid isn’t always necessary, there are some instances where it can work:

      • As tretinoin is typically too irritating for the neck and chest, Firm Revival can definitely be used on these areas.
      • If you can only tolerate tretinoin 2-3 times a week, you can use Firm Revival on the nights you’re not using tretinoin.
      • If tretinoin is making your skin sore or irritable even with less consistent usage, consider transitioning to Firm Revival for a gentler formula.
    • While Firm Revival HydroRetinal Firming Serum is formulated to be gentle on skin, we generally recommend avoiding using retinal with anything that might be considered exfoliating, especially if you’re new to using it. This includes chemical exfoliants, but also ingredients like azelaic acid, which is a keratolytic exfoliant. Once you’ve used Firm Revival regularly for at least 8 weeks, you can gradually reintroduce exfoliants once to twice a week (typically in the mornings when you aren’t applying retinal or alternating nights if you aren’t using retinal daily).

    • It’s not recommended to use any form of retinoid while pregnant. If you’re breastfeeding, consult with your doctor before using a topical retinoid.

    • The yellow color comes naturally from retinaldehyde (retinal), a derivative of vitamin A! Vitamin A molecules naturally absorb blue and green light, which shows up to the eye as the complementary color, a yellow-orange hue!
